The Lonely Hearts Club Band

A truly fantastic Beatles cover band with a difference. Consisting of 6 consummate professional musicians with a common passion for the music of the Beatles, their impressive live performances include classics like “Hey Jude”, “Penny Lane”, “Strawberry Fields” and “Let it be”.  They focus on the music of the so-called studio years which the Beatles themselves never performed live because the complex arrangements of their later works could no longer be realised on stage as a foursome.

This is where the Lonely Hearts Club Band comes in. With their outstanding musical talent, charisma and a captivating stage performance the guys make it possible to experience – live at long last - unforgettable songs from albums like “Rubber Soul”, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, “Magical Mystery Tour” and “The White Album”.  Be it the sound of the sitar in “Norwegian Wood” or the amazing medley from side two of “Abbey Road” – all perfectly interpreted, but with a contemporary sound. They truly capture the spirit and the enduring charm of the music of the Beatles.

The media, their fans and critics all agree that this is what the Beatles would sound like if they were still performing today.

the Lonely HearTs Club Band  are:
Robby Schmidt - voc., guit., keyboards
Axel  Wyman - guit., voc., sitar, ukulele
Günter Kreutzkamp - guit., voc.
Christoph Paulssen – bass, voc., perc.
Georg Göb - keyboards
Tommy Schneider – drums

Their musical collaboration started in 1997 and since then they have performed on many stages throughout continental Europe.  Their annual Whit Sunday outdoor concert at Heiligenberg castle (which has strong connections to the Mountbatten family and is located halfway between Frankfurt and Heidelberg) has become “cult” amongst Beatles fans and was put on for the 10th year running in 2010.

Front men Axel Weimann and Robby Schmidt (lead singer, whose latest solo album was produced and recorded in Los Angeles and is going to be released by the time of October 2010) are popular guests on many German and other European radio stations and they were instrumental in the band having been chosen, amongst many other cover bands, to provide the soundtrack for the first ever Beatles Audio Story to appear in German. It has been a sell-out success, not least because their well documented early years in Hamburg are undeniably part of the Beatles’ history and the foundation of their later success.
